We have to hand it to the residents of Corte Madera, of which I am one. We've chosen the perfect spot to call home. Whether it's the fantastic public and private schools, the world-class shopping, the picturesque parks and waterways, and the breathtaking vistas, this town has it all. With it's convenience to both San Francisco and the Wine Country, you could go just about anywhere for your romantic outings - but you don't have to! - Vista Walks: This could be a blog about the paths of Corte Madera and could go on forever. If I had to choose just one, it would be the heart-racing strong uphill walk with a reward of 360 degree vistas, I would recommend the Ring Mountain trail. Choose a late afternoon during the dry season for a destination picnic. www.parks.marincounty.org/
- Il Fornaio Restaurant: With it's elegant, European vibe and especially complementary lighting, it's hard not to shine at this local hot spot. I like to go early for their Happy Hour, from 3pm-6pm and sit at a bistro table to really amp up the romance factor. - Book Passage Readings and Events: This one is especially good, since you can do it rain or shine, and either alone or with a friend. What better way to start an interesting conversation than after hearing a new or favorite author talk about a topic that is near and dear to your date's heart? - Zinz Wine Bar: In the heart of Corte Madera (also known as the Town Square or Four Corners) sits the most charming 'locals' wine bar in all of the North Bay. In addition to the best wines sourced from the US, Spain, Italy and France, you can hear live music several times a week. - Music In The Park: Locals love summer in Corte Madera especially because of the Summer Music Series at the Piccolo Park Gazebo. - Corte Madera Creek Trail: This is the ribbon that wraps Corte Madera to Larkspur together so beautifully. You and your amour can pick up the trail from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal or Country Mart either on foot or bike (consider an ebike subscription at New Bike along the path) and wind your way to the Half Day Cafe in Kentfield. Wave to the kayakers and SUPers as you make your way, with the ever-present Mount Tam as your constant companion.
Remember to consider both your own preferences as well as your partner's interests when planning your date night. Corte Madera's natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere provide a lovely backdrop for creating wonderful memories together.
